Red Fort was build in 1638 and completed in 1648 by Sahajahan. Red Fort dates from the very peak of Mughal power. River Yamuna used to flow right by the eastern edge of the fort and once filled the 10 meters deep moat. The sandstone walls of Red Fort extend upto 2 kms and vary in height. On riverside it is 18 meters and 33 meters on the city side. Tickets can be collected from ticket kiosk, opposite to Lahori Gate.
